The community leaders and the respective Associations will continue to disseminate the training received in the Peace Clubs in their respective parishes and secondary and university schools.

We intend to continue the training, this time by extending it to a larger number of young people, especially as we are approaching a crucial election period for our country. Violence due to political intolerance is already emerging. Young people risk being drawn into the violence.
We also intend to increase the number of youth forums to raise awareness among as many young people as possible. The forums will be organised at diocesan level, in pastoral regions, in parishes and at national level, not forgetting the peace marches.

As the project was greatly appreciated by the bishops and by the direct and indirect beneficiaries, the same participants in all these activities recommended :

  • FIAC- CEI should continue to fund projects of this kind, as Burundi will be going into political elections in 2020, and every time there are elections, there is violence. This is why we need to step up training workshops, youth forums and peace marches, this time involving leaders of other religions (Protestants and Muslims).
  • – C.E.A.L must ensure follow-up and evaluation so that the training received is disseminated on an ongoing basis in the parishes, in the various Associations and in the other religious denominations.
  • That these teachings continue to be broadcast on Radio Maria Burundi and other radio stations in the country.
  • That funds be found to extend these training courses to a larger number of people for several years.
  • Increase the number of forums in the dioceses to create fraternity during the forums, especially when young people are accommodated in families without knowing their political, ethnic or regional affiliation ‘Utopia of universal fraternity’.
  • Increase the number of peace marches where Muslims, Protestants and admnistratives are invited to give messages of peace and non-violence.

These same participants undertake to promote non-violence, justice and respect for human dignity and to pass on these teachings as quickly as possible to their brothers and sisters in the various Associations.
