All the Xaveri Movements in Africa celebrate the feast day of their patron Saint François Xaveri, a jesuit missionary in the East Asia who lived in the 16th century. On 3rd December 1552 he died in India, his tomb is in Goa. He is the Patron of missions with St. Therese of Lisieux.

The XAVERI movement is a movement of Catholic action. It was founded in Bukavu in the DRC on 7 September 1952 by Father Georges DEFOUR, Missionary of Africa. In fact, he was wondering on how to proclaim the Gospel to the African people, respecting and valuing their culture.
