National Laity Week 2024

The Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas will celebrate National Laity Week 2024 from September 21-28, 2024, in various Archdioceses/Dioceses and National Lay Organizations. This year’s theme is “Laity United in Prayer as Pilgrims of Hope.” which coincides with the universal church’s celebration of the “Year of Prayer “and the following year’s theme of “Pilgrims of Hope.”

On August 31, 2024, preparations began for a Conference on Prayer under the Ecclesiastical Province of Manila, hosted by the Diocese of San Pablo. The conference aimed to encourage the laity to value the power of prayer and to appreciate how prayer can be a tool in their personal growth as baptized Christians. His Excellency Most Rev. Mylo Hubert C. Vergara, D.D., CBCP Vice President, Bishop, Diocese of Pasig, and Administrator, Diocese of San Pablo, gave the talk.

The Diocese of Imus will officially launch the National Laity Week
On September 21, 2024 it will begin with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by His Excellency Most Rev. Reynaldo G. Evangelista, D.D., Bishop of the
Diocese of Imus, followed by various talks on Prayer, Divorce, and Ecology. This opening session aims to promote fellowship among the members and a good learning experience on the different issues that are at stake.

During the week, the different Archdioceses/Dioceses and Lay organizations will organize various activities in their local areas and Dioceses, ensuring that there’s something for everyone to enjoy and learn from, continuing their celebration of National Laity Week.

National Laity Week will close on September 28, 2024, the feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz.
As a layperson, San Lorenzo Ruiz was the first Filipino saint and martyr to witness to and die for his Catholic faith. His exemplary and holy life continues to inspire many Christian laypersons.

The closing event will include various presentations, fellowship, and a eucharistic celebration presided over by His Excellency Most Rev. Florentino G. Lavarias, D.D., Archbishop of San Fernando, Pampanga.
