The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith and the Dicastery for Culture and Education published on 28 January “ANTIQUA ET NOVA. Note on the relationship between artificial intelligence and human intelligence“, approved by Pope Francis on 14.1.2025.

«’A document that tells us: this is perhaps the time to ask questions before giving answers’. It is an awareness on the part of believing thought that also aims to accompany the Church in the life of society. The more we ask ourselves questions about this machine capable of surrogating part of human decision-making, the more we are inevitably asking ourselves questions about the true identity of the human being and the uniqueness that characterises him, that is, about what makes us creatures in relationship with a Creator. The real novelty of this text is to put us in the correct perspective to ask questions about our identity and our capacity to contribute to the custody and cultivation of the world entrusted to us by the Creator».
