On the basis of our lay vocation and mission, Catholic Action in Latin America offers its ecclesial and social service with the following aims:
A) To participate in the pastoral plans of the Church at its different levels, in co-responsibility with the Episcopal Conferences or the bishops of the particular Churches.
B) to promote from the Gospel the different social realities where the laity lives, participates, announces, transforms and weaves its own sanctity.
C) To strengthen communion and social friendship.
Gathered in the IFCA, and inserted in the Latin American reality, each of our member countries, observers or in promotion, we are committed to make our institutional charism available to the Church and society in order to achieve an increasingly mature and co-responsible laity, a laity that lives and expresses synodality as an ordinary fact and builds with concrete actions social friendship for a more fraternal and human world where the culture of care and encounter is lived.
We want to propose for the period that has begun a path of formation and accompaniment of the programmes in the territory that lay men and women lead in order to favour the action of human promotion from the heart of the Gospel and to sustain the daily commitment to be Church in the heart of the world and world in the heart of the Church through an ever greater awareness of the lay vocation and mission, rooted in the baptismal vocation of the believer.
In our continent, as IFCA America and in communion with the Regions of CELAM, we have organised three regions that have worked hard on the continental period of the Synod, the Southern Cone Region, the Bolivarian Region and the CAMEX and Caribbean Region.
In these regions, we have assigned a coordinating country in each one, for the strategies that we propose to carry out and for which we need the accompaniment of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
OUR PROJECT
To transform reality, the baptismal commitment of the laity.
General objectives
1. To awaken and encourage vocations of co-responsible lay people in ecclesial and social life, attending to the realities that most affect our people in Latin America, in order to respond to the challenges that emerged in the Ecclesial Assembly and in the continental period of the synod.
2.Formation of social leaders
3. To describe, assume and serve the different realities that emerge from the challenges: Poverty – Human Trafficking – Internal Mobility – Labour.
4. To propose the CA as a space for mission and for the maturing of the faith of lay people co-responsible for the social and ecclesial life of LAC.
Particular objectives of the strategy
- To promote more and more the commitment of the laity in the public life of Latin American countries and their presence in the popular processes that demand: land, roof and work.
- To accompany by actively participating in the popular pastoral as a source of special wisdom to be shared.
- To form and propose the culture of care and the culture of encounter
- To promote among young people spaces where they can discern answers to their questions and concerns.
- To live synodality in order to recover the essential fraternity in the heart of the people of God.
- To propose CA as “en salida” (going out) as a charism at the service of the people of God.
